Learn the fun and very lucrative techniques of creating photographic oil portraits. Kimberly has sold these portraits with much success for the past 3 years and she will work with you, hands on, to create studio samples from your own portraits. This class will be limited to 10 students and will take place at Ray and Karen Dayton’s studio on highway one in Milton.
Beginning in 1993, and for six years running, Kimberly has received awards as one of Maryland’s top portrait photographers. Three times she was awarded the Best Portrait of a Child in an annual state convention. For 1996, 1997 and 1998 she was awarded Portrait Photographer of the Year. In ‘97 she also received the Court of Honor Award and Meyer Rivkind Portrait of the Year Award. These two awards are given in recognition of outstanding artistic ability in portraiture. In 1998 and 1999 Kimberly received a Senate Resolution from the state of Maryland proclaiming her style of portraiture to be the best in Maryland. Ms. Phillips has also had her photography recognized by the Professional Photographers of America. The international association selected one of Kimberly’s prints to be featured in a traveling print exhibit of 50 works of photography. Kimberly's portraits have been published in numerous hard back professional photography books recognizing fine photography from around the world. In addition, Kimberly Phillips was also awarded the distinguished Fuji Masterpiece Award recognizing artistic portraiture around the world. Ms. Phillips holds her Master’s of Photography degree from the Professional Photographers of America. Ms. Phillips currently resides in Owings Mills, Maryland, with her husband, David. Kimberly has worked as a professional photographer for over fifteen years, and recently reached another apex in her career when, she was named 1996, 1997 and 1998 Master Portrait Photographer of the Year by the Maryland Professional Photographers Association. Kimberly has also received numerous other awards from this association recognizing her outstanding portraiture. Kimberly’s work focuses on the aspects of classical portraiture, where she combines classic posing and lighting techniques of great artists such as Mary Cassatt and Rembrandt to name a few. Kimberly’s specialartistry can be even further enhanced through her technique of applying oil paints to the surface of the photographic portrait. The result is a uniquely oiled portrait which captures the artistry of the Dutch masters, with the accuracy of the modern photograph.
